QUALITY POLICY OF THE ACADEMIC UNIT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS

The Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering at the University of West Attica (UniWA), in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) and relevant university services, has aligned its Quality Policy with that of UniWA (Decision of the Senate, 4th extraordinary session, 08-05-2020).

The operational objective of the Master’s Programs (MSc) is to shape and support new industry professionals and through postgraduate education, to train them in applying new scientific knowledge to their work, with the goal of implementing new scientific advancements in the industry sector. The Department’s Masters Programs aim to achieve top rankings nationally in their respective fields.

The Quality Policy aims to support the academic content and scientific focus of the Masters Programs, ensuring they achieve high-quality educational, research, and operational outcomes in line with international academic standards and best practices of the European Higher Education Area, while complying with regulations of the National Authority for Higher Education and current legislation.

The Quality Policy of the Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering focuses on achieving strategic objectives, with the ultimate goal of continuously developing and improving the Masters Programs through processes and actions that ensure:

  • Continuous reform and improvement of study programs to align with the most current academic and professional developments in the fields relevant to the Masters Programs.
  • Design and achievement of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
  • Enhancement of student-centered learning and assurance of a conducive learning environment as fundamental to improving student performance.
  • Enhancement of transparency and provision of information to the academic community of the Department and the public.
  • Development of collaborations with other departments at the University of West Attica.
  • Development of external relations and active engagement with the job market.

To achieve these objectives, an annual review and internal audit of the quality assurance system are conducted by the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office (OMEA) in collaboration with MODIP of the Institution.

The quality assurance policy is communicated to all stakeholders who are encouraged to adhere to it. New incoming Master’s students are informed about the Quality Policy of the Masters Programs at the Department from the beginning of their enrollment, as part of their orientation.
