Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) aims to create a quality assurance system for the function of the University and the recording of all procedures related to the continuous improvement of its educational and research work, as well as the optimization of the performance of its services, according to international practices, defined by the international Quality Standards in higher education area. 

The Department of Industrial Design and Production at the University of West Attica (UNIWA), in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) and the relevant university services, has aligned its Quality Policy with that of UNIWA(Decision of the Senate, 4th extraordinary session, 08-05-2020).

The operational goal of the postgraduate programs is to shape and support new personnel in the industry. Through postgraduate education, the aim is to train them in applying new scientific knowledge to their work, with the goal of implementing new scientific achievements in the field of industry. The Department’s aim is for its postgraduate programs to be ranked among the best in the country in their respective subjects.

The Quality Policy aims to support the academic content and scientific orientation of the postgraduate programs, ensuring that they achieve high-quality educational, research, and operational work, following international academic standards and best practices of the European Higher Education Area, in compliance with the rules of the National Authority for Higher Education and adherence to existing legislation.

The Quality Policy of the Department of Industrial Design and Production focuses on achieving strategic goals, with the ultimate goal of continuous development and improvement of the postgraduate programs through processes and actions that ensure the following:

  1. Continuous reform and improvement of study programs to align with the most modern academic and professional developments in the postgraduate programs’ fields of interest.

  2. Design and achievement of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with international academic standards, ensuring that postgraduate programs’ graduates acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for their professional development.

  3. Enhancement of student-centered learning and ensuring a favorable learning environment as a fundamental pillar of improving student performance.

  4. Transparency and information dissemination to the academic community of the Department and the public.

  5. Development of collaborations with other departments of the University of West Attica.

  6. Development of external orientation and active connection with the job market.

To achieve the above, an annual review and internal audit of the quality assurance system are conducted by the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and Development Unit of the Institution.

The quality assurance policy is made public to all stakeholders who are encouraged to implement it. Newly enrolled postgraduate students are informed about the Quality Policy of the postgraduate programs of the Department from the beginning of their studies, within the framework of their welcome event.
